Watch Out - political, consider yourself warned

We're poor people - we're students, we benefit from a couple of state programs, we live off students loans. Ryan has a part-time job within his field that pays minimum wage. I don't carry cash because I tend to give it to panhandlers, and we don't actually have anything extra to give away right now. And I'm a Republican.

*Gasp* Did she just post that out loud on her blog where like 28 people may read it?!

Yup, I did.

I am a firm believer that everyone has a right to their political ideals, and I'm tired of feeling like I'm wrong because I lean to the right. Republicans believe in more of a hand-up than a hand-out - so yeah, be on a program while you further your education and need the help, but then GET OFF. When Ryan is done with school and has a job we will pay far more into the system than what we have taken out of it.

And someday, when Ryan's working that job and making an income, I, selfishly, want as much as that for our family as possible. Because HE earned it. HE went to school, HE did the work, HE got a job to make money for OUR family. If I wanted to pay 50% in taxes and wait 3 months for my turn for a doctors appointment I'd move to Canada.

Oh, no she di-int!

Oh, yes I did.

So all you democrats out there in bloggerville, hate me if you want to for speaking my mind. But I do believe that's what you all do, all the time. Just because Republicans are the silent MAJORITY doesn't mean that we don't have opinions, most of us just tend to keep them to ourselves. And oh my gosh, I'm posting my opinion on my blog.

I'd prefer Romney, but since he's not an option,
Go McCain!

Anything but a democrat.

As a general rule I hate conflict, and avoid it all costs. But I'm PMS'ing right now, so this is what you get.

Yea for you!! First for being so bold to speak up (PMS or not). Second because I agree with you! I'm rather concerned that with a demo president and congress we will move closer and closer to becoming a socialist nation! Call me selfish but we have worked hard and suffered much to make it to the point where we are actually making money. I don't care to give it away to the government. Plus, I'll pay what I need for private insurance (and deal with the headaches) so that I can have good health care.
Ahh. I feel better having gotten that out.

You're awesome!

WOW said so much better than I could. And so nice not to see a political post that rips on my stances and insists that I don't care about my fellow man AT ALL just because I'm conservative and want people to actually do all that they can.

And for those that don't think that people rip off the government. Just look at my aunt, who is on disablility but CLEARLY should NOT be.

Awesome. I like it. Way to go girl. No matter what my political preference (which is right winged, of course) I do enjoy a woman who speaks her mind. Wowser!

whoa! why so bitter? my question in all of this is (politicalness).... why do "democrats" and "republicans" have to be so harsh towards on another? can't individuals beliefs and opinions be stated without the party lines? Everyone thinks and feels differently about SO MANY THINGS, but why the hate towards any one group? Andy prefers salty, I prefer sweet ... that's what makes this world such a fascinating place!

p.s. we're BEYOND poor, so neener neener.

Kendra, I've just read too many posts that rip on my beliefs. And quite frankly, most people tend to fall into one of the two major parties belief-system-wise. That's why, when it comes right down to it, people tend to classify themselves with one of the two - it's just simpler.

However, you do have a point. I am not "Republican" on everything, just most things. And even then I'm not in the extreme right wing, more like somewhere between the undecided center line and halfway to extreme right.

And I don't hate anybody, I just don't like the way I see the country going in the hands of the democratic party. Sheena had it right, I too am afraid of us becoming a socialist nation.

And the bitterness - I wouldn't say I'm bitter. In fact, I DID say it was PMS. :)

Val, I know what you mean... I'm sick of reading things that rip on my beliefs as well.

That's all I'm going to say. I'm a socialist, what can I say?

Kendra, where are you finding pro-republican stuff? I want to read it! ;)

ROFL Valerie... ME TOO!

Oh and Kendra,
If you really are politically minded and want some people that are more in your boat as far as how they think the country could be bettered...

...is for you. They lean left (dispite the current tounge in check post) but are usually wellspoken and tolerant of others views.

thanks april - i read it often and love it!

val - I was actually just trying to be snarky about posts like yours( I'm seriously not trying to be mean when I say "posts like yours"). Just the way people get so defensive and then have to be like, "you republicans" or "your demorcrats, listen up!" Just funny when you say you hate that but then do it yourself. I'm just saying....

no need to get nasty there friends.

Kendra, to quote you - "Just the way people get so defensive and then have to be like, "you republicans" or "you demorcrats, listen up!" Just funny when you say you hate that but then do it yourself. I'm just saying...."

I don't think I did this at all. I'm not sure where you're coming from on the defensive thing. I'm not responding to something in particular, merely stating my views in general. I never said that my way was the only way, just that it was MY WAY. And I never said I hated anybodys political post, in fact I've read many, many, many political posts that I didn't agree with and kept my opinion to myself.

I know that you don't think the way that I do when it comes to politics, and I'm okay with that. I still love you and everything. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree about where we stand on this one.

interesting.

okay, here's my last one I promise, because I know that the majority of people who read your blog don't care what I have to say.

After going back and reading, I agree, I don't really think you were being all defensive. After going off and doing something else I was finally able to pinpoint my rub - it's this, and this is generally speaking about the world of politics, not your one blog post. I don't understand why people can't just state there beliefs. Period. Instead of bringing the other party into it and making them sound horrible for not being the party they back. I do this too, with my cool little widget on my blog (which is totally tongue in cheek:). Anyways, as you know political conversations could go on forever but I'm bowing out.... thank you, thank you very much.

Hahahaha!

Let's agree to disagree.

You have no idea who I am, but this is what you get for posting on Mormon mommy blogs :)

I love a good political discussion, especially on blogs. I think the thing that annoys me, and I'm not referring to you directly, is when people post their feelings on a public blog then get upset when they are disagreed with. If you, again not you directly, don't want random disagreement, set your blog to private.

...can you tell this happened to me this week while bloghopping?

i still like you even though you are a republican.

and you can say whatever you want on your very own blog. good for you.
