We had our Primary Program on Sunday. Caden did great on his part, had it all memorized and everything (which, since it was two whole lines wasn't that difficult for him). I was struck by the blatant amount of preferential treatment given to the primary presiden'ts kids. Which, okay, was probably only preferential in the eyes of parents and not as far as the kids were concerned. They just had the hugest and hardest parts even though one of them can't read (because she's six, not because she's dumb) and the other one no one can understand (Which sounds harsh, but it's the truth).
Anyhow, overall, it went well. But this was not my favorite Primary Program. No, that would be last year when my then Sunbeam Caden sang Latter-Day Prophets. The whole primary stood and sang, but Caden counted them out for you. Was he told to do this? No, he just took the initiative all on his own. Imagine if you will Caden in the very front with both fists raised high up in the air. Each time they sang a prophet's name he stuck one finger from both hands up at the same time - so both index fingers together, both middle fingers together, etc.
So: Latter-day prophets are number one (index fingers up) Joseph Smith, then Brigham Young (middle fingers up), John Taylor came third (ring fingers up) we know, then Wilford Woodruff (pinkies up), Lorenzo Snow (thumbs up - he now looks like he's giving you a high-ten with his fingers splayed. Quickly he makes fists again) Joseph F. Smith (index fingers up) remember the F., Heber J. Grant (middle fingers up), and George Albert Smith (ring fingers up), David O. McKay (pinkies up), was followed by Joseph Fielding Smith (thumbs up in the same high-ten-fingers splayed. Now my favorite part; he pulls his fingers back into fists and shouts loud enough for the entire congregation to hear, "HERE WE GO AGAIN!"). Then Harold B. Lee (index fingers up), Spencer W. Kimball (middle fingers up), Ezra Taft Benson (ring fingers up), Howard W. Hunter (pinkies up), Gordon B. Hinckley (thumbs up) leads the way, we hear and follow his words today.
So muck funnier in person than to type it all out, but you should have heard the laughter after the HERE WE GO AGAIN. I tell ya, it's going to take something huge to top that as my favorite Primary Program of all time.

Valerie, that whole scenario played out in my mind beautifully. I even laughed at the "here we go again". I was primary chorister in my ward, and we always got some funny things kids do. Sorry about the preferential treatment. That does stink!
I remember that. It was quite comical.
Our is coming up in a few weeks here. I can only imagine the type of "jewels" we will get to experience.
Ah, ours is this week. D has one line but he has practiced over and over. He is very excited and we're excited for him.
I think we must have been gone for the program last year because I don't remember that little gem. What a cute kid.
Awesome!!
